THE ENDLESS CIRCLES SERIES,2020 (Red) – Artcard
Ancient Chinese believed that the sky is round and the earth is square. After death, the soul returns to heaven and the body returns to the ground. In Buddhism cosmology, life does not end with death. Death is the beginning of the next life. Once we die we will reborn into a different body depending on the karma from our previous lives. The cycle works like a clock, with no beginning and no end. It only stops if enlightenment is achieved by insight and the extinguishing of desires. Yet we are too preoccupied in our daily lives to seek the path to enlightenment. We take the road that leads to wealth; the road to all other worldly gratifications. We are too dazzled by all the sensory pleasures we can find in this colorful flower world. Yet we are never satisfied. We always want more as the gratification external rewards provide are superficial, temporary, impermanent, and illusory. The more we have the more we want and the more miserable we feel and we seek even more to fill the void. In the endless circles of searching for desires we are stuck in the cycle of death and rebirth with no beginning and end. Will we ever be able to seek ultimate freedom?
